The ASSET Committee has partnered with the Youth Centre to form one committee for addressing the youth in the area. ASSET will continue with its projects while also supporting the development and programming of the new Youth Centre.
Asset development is the fostering of the developmental assets that children and adolescents need to become healthy, caring, productive, successful adults.
A community engaged in asset development for youth is committed to identifying the needed developmental assets that children and adolescents in the community are lacking, and to work to provide those assets. The more of these assets an adolescent has in life, the less likely he/she is to engage in risky behavior or experience situations that put him/her at risk.
Under the umbrella of the 40 Developmental Assets, the Drumheller and Area Asset Development Committee, has two primary functions:
1. The development, implementation and evaluation of prevention and promotion initiatives
2. The organization, delivery and evaluation of youth programing as offered by the Badlands Youth Centre.
