Municipal elections are held every four years, when residents elect one Mayor and six Councillors to a four-year term. In the Drumheller Valley, Council members are elected at-large which means the Mayor and Councillors represent the entire population rather than a geographical ward. October 18, 2021 is the next Municipal Election.

The Restriction Exemption Program does not apply to elections venues for election purposes. Voters are not required to show proof of vaccination or a negative test result before voting during the Advance Polls or Election Day, but the 1/3 fire code capacity for indoor gatherings will apply to polling stations. Masks are mandatory in indoor spaces.
